Mr. Gantz is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Pine Brook and working with the management teams of Pine Brook’s portfolio companies. He has an extensive track record as Chairman of five companies and CEO of two companies and is an experienced and successful investor. Mr. Gantz has a long-standing relationship with Mr. Newman as they have jointly worked on multiple opportunities over many years. In 1996 and 1997 respectively, Mr. Gantz played an integral role in the successful turnaround of two private equity controlled businesses, Seymour Housewares Corp., a portfolio company of Chase Capital Partners, and Fitz & Floyd, Inc., a portfolio company of ML-Lee Acquisition Funds II, L.P., a joint fund managed by the Thomas H. Lee Partners and Merrill Lynch. He has been the Chairman and/or CEO of Empire Brushes, Inc., Fitz & Floyd, Inc., Seymour Housewares Corp. and PECO Pallet. In 1998, he became a founding partner of Walnut Investment Partners, L.P., an SBIC fund focusing on investing in creative retail concepts, consumer products and financial services companies. Additionally, Mr. Gantz currently serves on the board of directors of Asia Pacific Exploration Consolidated, L.P. and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Committee of Economic Development, a 65-year-old organization of business, academic and foundation leaders formed to develop public policy recommendations. Mr. Gantz holds a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Columbia University Business School.
